Family Tax Benefit Part A

A payment to help with the cost of raising children. The amount depends on your family income, the ages of your children, and how many children you have.

What you get

A fortnightly or lump-sum payment per child. The maximum rate is ~$222.04/fortnight for a child under 13, and ~$288.82/fortnight for a child 13–19 (secondary student). Rates taper as family income rises above $60,000.

1. Claim through myGov linked to Centrelink. 2. Provide details of all children in your care. 3. Confirm family income. 4. Claim within 52 weeks of the event that makes you eligible.
