Overview
AusSchemes is built with privacy as a core principle. The eligibility wizard runs entirely in your browser — your answers are never sent to our servers. We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the service.
Information we do not collect
- Wizard answers (age, income, household, employment, housing) — these stay on your device only.
- Your name, address, or contact details unless you voluntarily provide them (e.g. when submitting an issue report).
- Government credentials or myGov account details.
- Any information about whether you apply for a scheme.
Information we do collect
Server logs
Like all websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamp). These are retained for up to 30 days for security and performance monitoring and are not linked to individuals.
Issue reports
If you submit an issue report about a scheme, we collect your email address (optional) and the description you provide. This is used solely to investigate and resolve the report.
Account data (if you create an account)
If you choose to create an account to save your results, we store your email address and any wizard answers you explicitly choose to save. This data is stored securely in Supabase (hosted in Australia) and is only accessible to you.
Cookies
AusSchemes does not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We use essential session cookies only if you are logged in to save your account session. We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking services.
Third-party links
Every scheme links to the official government source (a .gov.au website). When you follow these links, you leave AusSchemes and are subject to the privacy policy of that government website. We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of external sites.
Data storage and security
Any data we store is held in Supabase infrastructure with row-level security enabled, meaning each user can only access their own data. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you by contacting us. If you have not created an account, we hold no personal data about you beyond anonymised server logs.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
